Budget: Help & Support
A calm, private place for your money. Here is how to get the most out of it, and how to reach a real person if you are stuck.
Common questions
How do I log an expense, income, or transfer?
On the Home screen there is a Log button. Tap it, choose Expense, Income, or Transfer, enter the amount, pick a category and account, give it a name, and save. Your dashboard, budget, and charts update instantly.
How do I edit or delete an entry?
Open the Activity tab and tap the entry. Change any detail and tap Save changes, or tap Remove entry to delete it.
How do recurring bills and income work?
Set up anything that repeats, such as rent, a pay check, or a subscription, once under Settings > Bills & recurring (monthly, weekly, fortnightly, or yearly). They all appear together in one list. Each month, tick a bill as you pay it so it comes out of what is left; you can skip or undo anytime. Bills that are not due yet show “next” and become tickable automatically once that month arrives.
How do savings goals work?
On the Savings screen, tap New goal and give it a name, target, and optional starting balance. To add money, either tap Add next to the goal, or use Home > Log > Transfer and choose the goal as the destination. The goal’s ring fills as you get closer.
What does the Calendar do?
The Calendar shows your bills and reminders by day: green for paid or done, gold for due, and red for overdue. Add your own reminder and, if you like, turn on a nudge the day before it is due.
How do accounts, credit cards, and transfers work?
Under Settings > Accounts you can add your bank, cash, and credit-card accounts and see each balance. Use Transfer to move money between accounts, pay down a credit card, or add to a savings goal. Credit cards also appear in Debt payoff, so you can track paying them down.
How do I move between months?
Use the arrows near the top of the Home screen to step back to a past month or ahead to what is coming. The dashboard, budget, and activity all follow the month you are viewing.
Where is my data kept? Can I back it up?
Everything lives on your phone. Nothing is sent to a server, and there is no account to sign into, so your numbers stay completely private.
To make a backup, open Settings > Export a backup: Budget creates a file and lets you choose where to keep it. To move to a new phone, use Import a backup to restore that file.
Does it cost anything? Are there ads?
No ads, ever, and no data is collected or sold. Any pricing is shown clearly on the App Store and Google Play before you download.
